SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — It's not quite the new year, and Sioux Falls already has more snow than it had all of last winter.

The National Weather Service says the latest storm has dropped about 5 inches of snow on the city, pushing the season total to about 34.5 inches. Last winter's total in the city was 32 inches.

A winter weather advisory remains in place for southeastern South Dakota, but meteorologist Matt Dux (doox) says the snow is winding down and only about another inch is expected to accumulate.

The city of Sioux Falls has issued its fourth snow alert of the season, telling residents to get vehicles off the streets so they can be plowed. City Street-Fleet Manager Galynn Huber says there are 3,000 miles of street lanes that need clearing.
