The Sioux Falls Public Works Street Division has begun sweeping streets downtown in preparation for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. On Monday, March 14, 2016, weather permitting, street sweeping will begin across the entire city.

Some factors that may delay sweeping operations include temperatures below freezing, heavy rain, snow, and frozen gutter lines.

The city has been divided into sweeping districts so that crews can cover all areas of Sioux Falls. Each crew includes a flusher truck to control dust, two sweepers, and two dump trucks that remove the material collected.

Drivers are asked to use caution when in or near sweeping work areas. The Public Works Street Division makes every effort to remove snow and ice control aggregate, sediment, and other debris from the road surfaces each spring.

Daily sweeping progress reports and a map of the street sweeping districts can be found on the City’s website. Or by calling the Street Division at 605-367-8255 from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
