In light of Sioux Falls possibly getting several inches of snow on Friday, Gaylynn Huber of the Sioux Falls Street Department says his crews are preparing for the event.

"With the amount of snow we are looking right now---right around the two inch or more range---we are reading our salt mixture and loading it into our trucks. We have already put some of the one lane blades onto our sanders. We have also called in and notified other city department employees and letting them know what our schedule is for Friday so they can report to the street department division. We are making sure all our equipment is fueled. All those things that homeowners do with their snowblowers before the snow comes in---we are also doing with our big equipment."

Huber says residents can help the street crews when the snow arrives!

"I have big equipment out there and even with the sanding operation, I will have 50 to 60 pieces of equipment out on the street. I can't always see where other drivers are at. If the public would give us some room, let me do my job, I can get all the streets quicker and the traffic can return to normal a lot quicker."

Huber says snow removal crews will be working through this week's weather event to keep streets safe.
