Sioux Falls Police successfully negotiated a standoff with an armed man on Wednesday in southwest Sioux Falls.

The incident took place just before 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, in the 6500 block of West Essex Drive.

The initial call authorities received was a report of an intoxicated person in that area. After police arrived, they soon discovered the subject in question was "emotionally disturbed" and in possession of a firearm.
