In light of the opening of Sioux Falls Public Schools on Tuesday, Police Lieutenant Dave McIntryre offers this message for motorists.

"Give yourself more time to get to work because you're going to be running into those school zones. The lights are going to be on. The signs will be up. The officers will be out there running speed control."

If you break a traffic law, McIntyre says you run the risk of being ticketed.

"There will be a large presence of police officers in those school zones. We just ask people to drive safely so we can keep those kids safe."

McIntyre urges motorists to keen an eye on children gathered at at bus stop and be alert for children who might dart across the street on their way to school.
