Sioux Falls Police Lt. Dave McIntire said two people were struck on the head with a pop can and possibly a rock. It began on Saturday at 12th and Summit.

"A citizen advised up that he had been struck on the back of the head by what he believed was a rock. The suspect was described as a black man wearing shorts and as a distinctive shirt. He had fled before we arrived," said McIntire.

"One of the officers checking the area actually saw a person fitting this description go up to 11th and Spring. He struck another individual in the back of the head with a full can of pop."

McIntire says police arrested 22-year-old Elijah Johnson and charged him with simple and aggravated assault.

It's not known why the assaults happened.
