SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A sharp drop in ticket sales in 2012 has led to a modest operating loss of almost $1,900 for the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science in Sioux Falls.

The Argus Leader reports that President Larry Toll says admissions and ticket sales were down $290,000 from 2011, which played a big factor.

He says the small loss is essentially breaking even, adding that: "It beats losing money, but it's not as good as being positive."

Toll says the Pavilion was able to stay in the black, but it's also important that operational revenue stay in the black on its own without a boost from additional assets

He says naming drive funds and donations won't occur every year and shouldn't be counted on.
