8–10 a.m.            Walking is one of the best ways to stay healthy! Pedometers are available for checkout so you can log your daily progress. We will help track your miles each week and award incentives when you reach 25, 50, and 100+ miles. Walking has many benefits for your health, and we want to reward you for healthy behavior. The more miles you log in our climate-controlled gyms, the more incentives you will be awarded. Free. No registration required.

10 a.m.–12 noon     Play groups are especially for stay-at-home kids with their parents. Gather your friends at our community centers to play and not get your house messy. Our play groups are open for kids from infant age to prekindergarten age and are designed for stay-at-home parents. We will provide the equipment and toys. Parents provide the supervision. Not intended for child care centers or in-home care providers. Free. No registration required.

Saturday,            Arrowhead Barn Open House

May 2,                 Arrowhead Park, 1600 Riverbluff Road, 367-8222

10 a.m.–1 p.m.    View century-old and architecturally interesting old barn up close as we open the doors of the historical barn at Arrowhead Park. During this one-day open house, tour the barn and grounds at your leisure. Park staff will be on hand to answer questions and share historic facts. The barn was designed by Wallace Dow, an early Sioux Falls architect who designed many local landmarks, for use in the town of East Sioux Falls. It served as a storefront livery and has many unusual barn features. All ages. Free. No registration required. Take advantage of the Springtime in the Country event held the same day at Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum.

 

 

Tuesday,             Rescue Rally

6–7:30 p.m.         Do you have a canine who was rescued—or is it that they rescued you? Either way, we want to celebrate all breeds of dogs who have been rescued. Come down to Lien Park to meet with multiple rescue agencies and have an evening full of fun. We will have bean bag toss for owners, games for dogs, and much more. Don’t have a rescue dog? This experience is for those who are not able to explore our beautiful trail system on their own. Golf cart tours from Cherry Rock to Tomar Park will allow you to experience stunning views of the river, parks, and wildlife. You must be able to transfer independently. If you’re ready to start cooking at home, this 45-minute cooking demonstration from the American Heart Association will give you the basics you need to make low-cost, heart-healthy meals. Each session will feature a different set of affordable and healthy recipes to give you the basic skills and techniques to get started and inspired—and have fun! Ages 18 and older. Free.
