Sioux Falls is about to have its own American Ninja Warrior very soon.

His name is Jason Steinberg.

KDLT News is reporting that Steinberg will be on the American Ninja Warrior program next month.

According to the KDLT News report, competition has always been a part of Steinberg's life. He ran track through high school, competed as a decathlete while at USD, and became a personal trainer after graduating.

While training others, Steinberg still felt an itch to compete himself. An itch that needed to be scratched. That's when he took the advice of friends and decided to try out for the American Ninja Warrior show.

Steinberg says he first applied to be on the show in 2016. He received a couple of phone calls but didn't quite make the cut.

Not making the program inspired Jason to try even harder. Steinberg began training under a more fierce exercise program for an entire calendar year before he re-applied.

He told KDLT News, his new workout program wasn't the typical lunges and squats training. “It’s a lot of upper body strength and endurance. You know through pull ups, through monkey bars like balls, bananas holds, that type of thing.”

The second time around ended up being a charm. Steinberg received a call in March notifying him that he was chosen to be a contestant this season on American Ninja Warrior.

Steinberg said, “It was amazing to get that call. You’re waiting from January until they call you, months later. You’re answering every telemarketer that calls because you don’t know when they’re calling or what number that is.”

This past April, Steinberg flew to Kansas City to compete. He is unable to say how the competition went, other than he felt nervous, and it was quite the experience.

According to Steinberg, “You go there and you don’t know what the course is, you don’t know when you’re going to run and now that you’re waiting for the episode, you don’t know what they’re going to show.”

Steinberg's run is scheduled to air on KDLT TV on July 3. Regardless of how he does, Jason told KDLT he plans to keep applying as long as he can. “I plan to do it again next year, and I’m looking forward to it,” said Steinberg.

Jason will host a watch party in Sioux Falls the night his competition airs.

KDLT News plans to have a crew with Steinberg that evening to see how the Sioux Falls American ninja warrior feels after watching his debut on network television.

Good luck Jason. We're all rooting for you!
