A case of mistaken identity leads to an arrest. Police Officer Sam Clemens says the event took place about 8:30 PM Tuesday on South Summit Avenue.

“A woman was at home and heard somebody beating at her door,” says Clemens. “It turned into him kicking the door. One of her children looked outside and saw this guy had a pocket knife with the blade open. Apparently he thought someone else lived there and was looking for his cell phone.”

Upon arriving at the house, police found 53 year old Jimmy Nichols of Sioux Falls in a car outside the house. He was charged with aggravated assault and intentional damage to property.

The 35 year old victim was at home with three children at the time of the incident and did not know the suspect. No one was harmed.
