There is little doubt that Sioux Falls is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. However, as our population base grows, so does the threat of crime.

Unfortunately, that seems to be demonstrated almost every day in our fair city. Here is yet another example, of why you should always be locking the doors in your house and vehicle every time you step away.

A Sioux Falls man recently had his home broken into after suspects found his patio door unlocked.

Stolen were a Samsung flat screen TV, a Samsung Note cell phone, and an Xbox One. To make matters worse, the thieves used the man's 2014 Hyundai Elantra as a getaway vehicle after they found the keys to the car laying on the kitchen counter in the house.

Sgt. Paul Creviston with the Sioux Falls Police Department says, the suspects did leave tools in the man's parking space which have been taken in as evidence in the case.

According to Creviston, the unlocked patio door lead to the point of entry and "Criminals are always looking for a crime of opportunity."

The investigation into the burglary continues.
