Sioux Falls police officers were called out to a residence on Monday in the 300 block of North Summit. Lt. Toby Benson says a burglary was taking place.

"An individual saw a person inside the residence. This person actually saw the individual messing with cars in front of the residence. The next time he saw this person he was inside the residence. Through some checking of some items that left the scene and did not belong there we located an individual just down the street. This person was identified as the burglary suspect."

Benson says the suspect made his way into the residence through an unlocked door.

"I think that the person living in the home for a short amount of time. The suspect then came in through an unsecured door."

Benson says 48-year-old Bradley Hightire of Sioux Falls faces first degree burglary charges.
