Now that Autumn has officially arrived and October is just a few days away, it's time to shift our attention to Halloween. I know it's tough since Santa has already shown up in most department stores, but just try and humor me for a moment, okay?

Soon almost every house will have a Jack O' Lantern, a witch, or some sort of zombie hanging out in the front yard.

Welcome to the start of the scariest time of the year, and in the immortal words of Charles Cyphers (aka: Leigh Brackett) from the motion picture Halloween, "I guess everyone's entitled to one good scare."

That's exactly what the gang at the Sioux Falls Jaycees are up to right now. Since September 1st, they've been busy planning and constructing this year's version of the Sioux Falls Jaycees Haunted House.

Each year the Jaycees come up with a different theme and a totally redesigned haunted house in the hopes of scaring the bejeebers out of people in the Sioux Empire.

At this moment 290 walls, bloody dummies, and rusty chains are being laid out in the Fine Arts building of the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds.

Soon volunteers dressed up as ghosts, goblins and ghouls will be there to scare you.

What's not scary is the many organizations that will benefit from all the screams again this year.

The Sioux Falls Jaycees donate money to various organizations throughout the Sioux Empire. In years past, Toys for Tots and Special Olympics received part of the revenue.

Actually 30 percent of their total budget is raised by the end of October.

The 2015 version of the Sioux Falls Jaycees Haunted House will open on October 9 and will run through Halloween. The cost to get in, is $8 or $6 if you dare to bring in a canned food item.

A list of hours when this year's haunted house will be open can be found here.
