The last pints have been tapped and the final numbers find that the Sioux Falls Police Department has narrowly won the Heroes Behind the Badges blood drive.

KSFY TV reports that after being behind most of the competition, police beat Sioux Falls Fire Rescue 494 to 488. The 982 donations will help 2,946 patients.

The friendly competition ran from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4.


 

Here's a way you can get your blood pumpin. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and the Sioux Falls Police Department 23rd annual blood drive is coming to a close.

The Heroes Behind the Badges friendly competition will wrap up today January 4th. The public is encouraged to stop by either Sanford Medical Center or Avera McKennan Hospital donor rooms and designate their blood donation to the department of their choice.

The department with the most donations will contribute $700 to the charity of their choice. Second place will donate $300.

So far there have been blood donations made. You can help your Sioux Falls Police and Fire Departments help the community by donating blood this season.
