Steve Schwans was just living his life. Loving his wife and daughter, hanging out with friends, going to work everyday to a job he loved and excelled at. And then his journey took a very severe turn. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

What followed was over two years of treatment, during which he continued to work almost full-time. Steve is the Area Manager for Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Sioux Falls. He started with Taco John's and Five Guys in 2004 and was promoted time and again, due to his work ethic and passion for the job.

Monday (June 19) you are invited to eat out at any Taco John's or Five Guys' location in Sioux Falls from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and 50% of all sales (in-store and online, during this time) will be donated to Steve and his family to help him continue the battle against this cancer.

Chemotherapy, radiation, clinical drug trials, he's done it all and continues fighting. Ted Miller, VP of Operations for Taco John's and Five Guys' Burgers & Fries of Sioux Falls and South Dakota, said, "If you could cure cancer through sheer force of will, Steve would be cancer free already. We’ve watched him fight this with everything he has and we want to show Steve that we want him to keep fighting as hard as he can. We’re hoping to have a giant turnout – Sioux Falls is a community that cares for its own, which is one of the reasons we love having our restaurants here.”

As if helping someone who could be your friend, neighbor, brother, son, nephew, dad, grandson, etc., isn't enough, while you're dining out you'll have the opportunity to donate additional funds and enter a giveaway to win free Taco John's or Five Guys' food for an entire year! Details will be available at the stores during the benefit.

So please, put it on your calendar, make a date for dining out for this Monday night, (June 19) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Gather your family and friends to help out a great guy who'd love to go back to just living and loving his life.
