Sioux Falls Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a house fire Thursday evening at 308 S. Sherman Ave. A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the house and called 911.

Fire units arrived to find smoke and flames on the second floor of the house. Fire crews extinguished the fire in approximately ten to fifteen minutes. The residents were home at the time of the fire and were evacuating the house upon arrival of the fire crews.

The residents were assisted by Rural/Metro Ambulance but did not have any injuries.  The home suffered moderate fire and smoke damage. The house is uninhabitable due to the fire.

The residents are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with two support vehicles, four fire trucks, and 20 firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to test their smoke detectors.
