Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says an employee found a two year old girl on Wednesday in a shopping cart that was unattended at HyVee on 10th and Kiwanis Avenue.

"The employee actually took the girl around in the store to try and find a parent. She didn't have any luck. She thought the child was alone for about thirty minutes or so before police were called. We were able to find dad passed out in his car in the parking lot. Eventually, officers woke him up. He had no idea where his daughter was. We found out he has two other children that were with their grandmother. The father had  apparently left sober we believe and took the two year old with him. At some point, he was intoxicated."

Clemens says 26-year-old Caleb Perez was arrested and charged with DWI 2nd and cruelty to a minor.

The child was returned to the mother.
