On Tuesday (September 15) night the city council decided to move forward with plans to build a city administration building just off of Minnesota Avenue in Downtown Sioux Falls.

The proposal was brought forward to delay to the project by two years to allow for collaboration with both Minnehaha and Lincoln counties to construct the building together.

Greg Jamison said it would be great for Lincoln County residents to have a location closer than Canton to conduct their business.

Although councilor Rick Kiley agrees with a collaborative effort, he says the city simply can’t wait.

Councilor Kenny Anderson Junior also echoed Kiley’s comments, saying the Lincoln County has had other opportunities to create a satellite office for its residents closer to the city, and has not made those arrangements.

The city administration building is being planned for additional space allotment for future growth, as its planned to be a minimum of a 50 year building.
