Visibility in your neighborhood should get a little brighter thanks to the cities replacement of LED street lights.

The City of Sioux Falls recently began an initiative to reduce the City’s energy usage by installing Light-Emitting Diode (LED) streetlights where appropriate. LED streetlights use about half as much energy as traditional High-Pressure Sodium streetlights, last longer, and provide a more appealing light.

New developments, like Lake Lorraine, the City is installing only LED streetlights. On major street construction projects, like this year’s I-29/I-229 interchange project and next year’s Louise Avenue reconstruction, LEDs are installed to replace the former streetlights.
