Sioux Falls Police and Metro Communications are working together to host this year's "Citizen's Academy." Police Department Public Information Officer Sam Clemens explains.

"We got the information applications available on the Sioux Falls Police Department's website. The classes begin Thursday, March 8th and continue through May 10th. Classes are from 6 to 9:30 p.m. It's designed to give people a good view of what the police department and dispatchers do."

If you are interested in joining, Clemens says now is the time to do it!

"This is a class that's always popular. Class size is limited. We
encourage people to sign up soon. There is a little background investigation that gets done. We are just letting the people know about that. There are times when we have people ended up on a waiting list and had to wait until the next year."

The classes will be conducted at the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement center in Sioux Falls.
