Sex Trafficking Sting in Central South Dakota Nets 1 Arrest

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota man is facing a sex trafficking charge after authorities accused him of attempting to solicit sex from a person he believed to be a minor.

The office of South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says 34-year-old Joseph Raleigh, of Miller, has been charged with one count of attempted commercial sex trafficking.

The Capital Journal reports Raleigh was arrested Friday after he allegedly answered an advertisement placed by a law enforcement task force on a classified advertising website.

Jackley's office says Raleigh's arrest was the result of weekend joint operation among state, federal and local officials in the Pierre area.

Raleigh faces a mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison if convicted. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charge.
