Don't be surprised when you step on the scale in October and discover that you've packed on a few extra pounds.

There's a good reason why, September is the second "fattest" month on the entire year!

As fall comes rolling around we all have a tendency to eat a little more, maybe we feel the need to add a little winter weight to help keep keep us warm during all those unbearable sub-zero months yet to come?

It's common for most people to put on an average of two extra pounds during the month of September. But that's nothing, compared to the four pounds that you'll more than likely pack on in December.

All the holiday meals, and sweet treats do take there toll, making December the month the average person will gain extra weight.

The top five months for weight gain each year, in order, are: December, September, August, November, and October.

But don't fear, its January to the rescue!

Thanks to all the New Year's resolutions people will make to lose weight, the average person starts shedding pounds like crazy after the first of the year. Making January the top month for weight loss, followed by June.

You can chalk that up to our need to want to look good in those skimpy spring and summer clothes.
