RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Pennington County is taking another shot at auctioning 40 acres of land in the Black Hills after the first auction ended amid confusion and without a sale.

The Rapid City Journal reports that The Pennington County Board of Commissioners will hold an auction Tuesday for the land west of Deerfield Lake.

An auction for the land last month was declared a "no sale" after the man who made the winning bid realized he could not afford the price tag. He had made the winning bid of $2,550 thinking it was for the whole parcel. But it was actually per acre.

McPherson Auction and Realty is making sure the mistake isn't repeated. The auction house's advertisements for Tuesday's auction have noted that the sale is "by the acre."
