INTERIOR, S.D. (AP) — Authorities have scaled back the search for a Nebraska man missing in Badlands National Park in southwestern South Dakota.

Officials were notified last Thursday that 39-year old Joshua Jacobsen, of Laurel, Nebraska, was missing. Park rangers found his vehicle in a campground Friday, and a team of more than 50 officials from several agencies including the South Dakota National Guard began searching. Dogs also were brought in to help.

Authorities say searchers on the ground and in a helicopter combed a large portion of wilderness area over the weekend but found nothing to indicate where Jacobsen might have gone.

Park rangers will continue to work with Jacobsen's family and search for him over the coming days.
