ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League announced its 2015 Academic All-League Softball Team on Wednesday, and South Dakota State junior shortstop Devan Larsen earned one of the nine spots on the team.

“I’m very proud of Devan and all she accomplished this year, both on and off the field,” head coach Krista Wood said. “Her hard work in the classroom and dedication on the field makes her a well-rounded student-athlete, and I look forward to her having an even better senior year.”

A power-hitting shortstop from Monroe, Wash., Larsen finished her junior year with a 3.69 grade point average as an engineering major, which only adds to an impressive season on the diamond, where started all 52 games for the Jackrabbits at shortstop.

Between the lines, Larsen set SDSU single-season record in 2015 with 16 home runs, 105 total bases and with a .691 slugging percentage. She also enters her senior season just three home runs shy of breaking the schools career record of 25.

Larsen becomes the second SDSU softball player to earn the award, joining Devon Reick, who got the nod in 2013.
