BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota State University Extension is offering workshops to answer questions about estate planning and preparing for farm transitions.

The Sustaining the Legacy-Estate Planning and Farm Transitions Conferences will be held at SDSU Extension regional centers in Sioux Falls and Pierre on Feb. 7 and in Watertown and Rapid City on March 17.

Extension educators say the workshops will provide attendees with information on how to pass their operation on to the next generation, how to develop a fair estate plan for all heirs and how reduce family friction due to the transition of assets. They will also discuss ways to develop a plan that maintains privacy and fulfills goals.
