RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Eighteen South Dakota National Guard soldiers who served nine months in Afghanistan are back on U.S. soil.

The members of the 129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment arrived at Fort Dix, N.J., on Monday. The Rapid City-based unit will go through the demobilization process there before returning to South Dakota.

The unit's mission overseas involved public affairs, media coverage and media escorting.
