Obviously, Scotty McCreery is no stranger to 'American Idol.' The 19-year-old singer was crowned the winner in the show's tenth season, and has since embarked on a successful recording and touring career as a country artist. This Wednesday (Jan. 23), he will return to the show for an appearance during the audition rounds in Charlotte, in his home state of North Carolina.

One of McCreery's biggest hits is titled 'The Trouble With Girls,' which is appropriate, since his appearance coincides with some major trouble between 'Idol' judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. As we've already seen in a viral video which spread over the summer, the two got into a profanity-laced confrontation that will reportedly air on Wednesday night in a presumably edited-for-television version.

Luckily, McCreery was not involved in, or present for, the screaming match. He was on hand at the Time Warner Cable Arena to lead the crowd in cheering for the camera while the fight took place later on at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, where the auditions were forced to move after the Democratic National Convention came to Charlotte.

'Idol' judge Keith Urban was not so lucky -- he was literally caught directly between the two women during the awkward confrontation, later joking that he "was the UN" during the fight.

McCreery's 'American Idol' return airs Jan. 23 at 8PM ET on Fox.
