In a statement to parents Monday (3/6) the Sioux Falls School District said that a threat was made to a Washington High School. Social media sharing brought the threat to the District's attention.

It was determined that the threat was made against a different Washington High School in another state.

Statement from the Sioux Falls School District:

Hello Sioux Falls School District Families.  Overnight, we were made aware of a threat to a Washington High School.  The District worked together with Sioux Falls Police to develop a plan to ensure the safety of all students and staff.  We were able to determine that the threat was directed to a Washington High School in another state – not Sioux Falls, SD.  It appears the information traveled several states overnight through social media.  This situation is a reminder of the phrase “See Something, Say Something” - report anything that appears suspicious. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of students and staff.  Thank you for the role you play in keeping our schools safe.
