Ruston Kelly puts his athletic ability on display in the new music video for his song "Son of a Highway Daughter." Readers can press play above to watch the clip, which features Kelly showing off his figure-skating skills.

Kelly started figure skating at an early age and, for a time, had competitive aspirations. He moved to Michigan as a child to live and train with an Olympic coach; it's where he began writing songs before he moved to Nashville at the age of 17.

"I actually competitively skated when I was younger and even moved away from home to train when I was like 14. WHY IDK prolly so I could do this video ..." the artist jokes in an Instagram post.

The "Son of a Highway Daughter" video showcases Kelly and Khamken in near silhouettes as spotlights follow them across a dimly lit ice in graceful cadence to Kelly's soaring song. Stephen Kinigopoulos and Alexa King directed the clip; Kelly's co-star is Deme Khamken, who performs with the Preds Energy Team, the on-ice cheerleaders for the NHL's Nashville Predators hockey team.

"Son of a Highway Daughter" is the third track on Kelly's debut album, Dying Starwhich he released on Sept. 7.
