I'm a big fan of Rod Stewart. I'm a huge fan of Johnny Cash!

Stewart will be in Sioux falls at the Denny Sanford Premier Center July 25th. As a teenager, I loved Rod's rock and roll hit's like 'Maggie May' and 'You Wear It Well' and others. Through the years I thought songs like 'First Cut Is The Deepest' and 'Tonight's The Night' were good and well written.

Now, with that being said, I also was and still am a huge Johnny Cash fan. Go ahead, throw on just about anything Johnny did and I'm good to go, crank it up!

Well, Johnny recorded a song that is one of Rod Stewart's all-time great hit's. Remember 'Reason To Believe'?

Now, I'm guessing that Johnny recorded that song, not so much because Rod had a hit with it, but rather because 1) It's a great song, and 2) it was written by a great songwriter named Tim Hardin.

You may not know the name Tim Hardin, but he's something of a legend in folk music circles. Tim was a brilliant songwriter, but was also a victim of his own demons, dying of a heroin overdose back in 1980 at the tender age of 39. Now, why do I think Johnny admired the work of Tim Hardin?

Because he and June recorded another great song that Tim Hardin wrote.

Go ahead and sing along to the classic 'If I Were A Carpenter' from the pen of Tim Hardin.
