Ribs and rock and roll. It's a great combination. Ribfest is May 28-31 at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.

Sponsors this year are Campbell’s Supply, the Sioux Empire Fair Association and Pepper Entertainment and produced by SMG Sioux Falls.

This year's music line-up features a mix of genres for various musical tastes.

Ribfest kicks off Thursday night featuring Warrant, Firehouse and Pop Rocks.

Except for new lead singer, Robert Mason, four of the five original members of Warrant still tour with the band including Jerry Dixon, Erik Turner, Steven Sweet and Joey Allen. Original lead singer, Jani Lane died of acute alcohol poisoning in a hotel on Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, CA on August 11, 2011.

I had a chance to see Warrant last year and Robert Mason is awesome. He has super high energy and can hit all of the high notes. He's not bad to look at either. When I saw their concert, they played their biggest hits like "Cherry Pie," "Down Boys," and even "I Saw Red."

Firehouse is another one of my favorite bands. Again, the band maintains all of its original members (vocalist C.J. Snare, guitarist Bill Leverty and drummer Michael Foster) with the exception of the original bassist who was replaced by Allen McKenzie in 2004.

Their biggest hit was the 1991 ballad, "Love of a Lifetime," but my favorite Firehouse song is "Don't Treat Me Bad."

Pop Rocks is a high energy live music show that plays the hottest top 40 hits, throwback hip-hop, pop country and timeless classics.

Friday night at Ribfest it's legendary rock band Cheap Trick.

One band that I have not seen, but REALLY want to see is Cheap Trick. I was super excited to hear the band would headline Friday night at Ribfest.

Like Warrant and Firehouse, Cheap Trick has most of their original members. Rick Nielsen on lead guitar, Tom Petersson on bass and Robin Zander on lead vocals. Daxx Nielsen takes over on drums. I can't wait to hear "Surrender" and "I Want You to Want Me" live.

Saturday night is country night with Montgomery Gentry as well as Uncle Kracker, for those of you who like a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.

Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry have been together since the 90's. Eddie is the brother of another major country star, John Michael Montgomery. The duo has had five #1 country hits.

Uncle Kracker joins the line up Saturday night and although he's technically not country, he's had a few country hits including the crossover single "Smile."
