I remember playing Rex Allen Jr. songs back in the 1970's when I was at KWYR in Winner and KKAA in Aberdeen.  He didn't have what might be called a 'superstar' country music career, but he had a handful of Top 10 hits, probably the most memorable 'Lonely Street' in 1977.

His father was, of course, legendary as well as a Cowboy singer and the narrator of all those great classic Disney films and TV shows.  If you were a regular watcher of 'The Wonderful World of Disney' like I was back in the 1960's, you no doubt heard the great voice of Rex Allen.

Well now the 66-year-old Rex Allen, Jr. has a new single that is, as we country boys say, 'mighty fine, mighty fine'.  Of course the so called 'Country' stations won't play it.  They'll call it 'too country'.  Well, for us here at Classic Country KXRB you can't be too country.  You can only be real country.

Check out the video here and listen to the touching lyrics.  Maybe it will bring you back like it did me.

It sure is 'mighty fine' to have Rex Allen Jr. on Classic Country KXRB and KXRB.com.
