If media reports out of Ohio are correct, former Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini won't be out of work for long.

According to FootballScoop.com, Pelini is getting ready to accept the vacant head coaching position at Youngstown State, possibly as early as Thursday.

If Youngstown State sounds familiar, it's the same YSU that competes alongside South Dakota and South Dakota State in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Penguins have an opening after firing head coach Eric Wolford following a 7-5 season, 4-4 in MVC play.

Pelini, a Youngstown native, was fired by Nebraska last month, after seven seasons and a 67-27 overall record.  Even if Pelini decides not to coach this season, he's still owed $7.65 million by Nebraska for the remainder of his contract.  Whatever salary he might make elsewhere would be deducted from that amount.

Besides a chance to return to his hometown, another factor that makes the YSU job attractive to Pelini is former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel, who is now the president at Youngstown State.
