RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A Rapid City woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Forty-four-year-old Corinne Vermillion had pleaded not guilty in February to second-degree murder and an alternate count of first-degree manslaughter in the January death of 37-year-old Donny Ladeaux.

KEVN-TV reports that Vermillion on Monday pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors. The agreement caps her prison term at 10 years rather than life, which she could have faced had she been convicted of murder. She's to be sentenced Dec. 15.

Authorities say Ladeaux was killed at a public housing complex in Pennington County where he lived with Vermillion and their two children.
