RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The Pennington County Jail in Rapid City is bringing back its spiritual drum group.

County officials say the program goes back to the late 1990s but had dropped off in recent years. Officials say it has been difficult to find someone to coordinate the activities and many previous participants were either moved to other facilities or released.

One inmate, Cheston Ghost, has been giving lessons on styles of Native American music and the various drumbeats. He says sharing his songs and memories make him feel like he's "on the outside."
