This weekend, Randy Travis put on a performance we could never forget. Travis, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, got up to sing ‘Amazing Grace’ at the podium.

Travis, 57, suffered a stroke in July 2013. It caused him to have limited mobility and he was no longer able to speak. At the time, he vowed he would perform again one day, but no one was certain of what was to come.

However, Travis decided to join the stage with his wife Mary during the medallion ceremony on Sunday, in order to perform for the audience. This was his first public performance of any kind since his stroke.

As he sang the tune ‘Amazing Grace,’ the crowd was absolutely quiet, finishing his performance with a standing ovation for the singer.

Fellow Country singer Garth Brooks had the honor of announcing Travis into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Other inductees (in other categories) included Fred Foster and Charlie Daniels.

Randy Travis has had a powerful effect on the Country genre, being credited for pioneering the return of traditional country music.
