Randy Travis Going To Trial Next Year

The country star has pleaded not guilty to charges of simple assault – and has requested a jury trial. The singer was cited after an August 23 incident in a church parking lot. Police claim he stepped in between an argument involving a female acquaintance – and her estranged husband. Nobody was hurt.
Travis has had more than his share of scrapes with the law lately. He was arrested earlier in August in North Texas on a DUI charge. He’s also charged with retaliation or obstruction, for allegedly threatening officers. And last February, he was busted in another Texas town – Sanger – for public intoxication.
