There is a new commercial out there using The Carpenters 1970s tune Rainy Days & Mondays. The song bemoans the two things in its title as factors bringing down the person singing it. Today was a definite Monday!

I had a good weekend. On Saturday, I got lots of chores done, so Sunday was a day to do whatever I wanted. I indulged. I slept late, watched CBS Sunday Morning, drank coffee with Kahlua in it and made the perfect fritatta with sausage, ham, cheese & potatoes for brunch. Since Ben always says if you don't have a picture of something, it didn't happen- - here is my perfect fritatta:

I rented 'Guardians of the Galaxy' which I didn't get watched because I got wrapped up in the TNT marathon of their new series 'The Librarians'. I know what you're thinking, but it is a really fun and funny, adventure show, with the adorable Christian Kane in the cast! What's not to love?

So I basically lazed the day away and it was wonderful! I never sleep very well on Sunday nights but last night I went to bed a little early and woke up feeling positive about the start of a new and busy week. That should have been the first sign that disaster was in the offing, but I stayed cheery as I drove into the station parking lot.

I got out of my vehicle, saw our General Manager Don Jacobs, holding the door open for me and headed in his direction. The minute my foot touched our sidewalk, I went down for the count on the ice. It seemed to happen in slow-motion. My right foot twisted, my right knee bent all the way back under me as it smashed into the asphalt and my shoe flew into space. To get off of my screaming knee, I rolled over onto my computer and purse which were now laying in the icy, wet mess.

I felt sorry for Don because I would have been laughing my butt off at this soggy, disheveled person trying to extricate herself from the muck but he helped me up, put on my shoe and ushered me inside.

I got to my desk and the obligatory tears started. (Big baby!) I surveyed the damage; bloody, sprained knee and a knee cap which could be doing double duty as a shin protector, sprained ankle and foot, and wet, muddy jeans and socks. The  embarrassment of doing what amounted to a 'slip, flop, drop & roll' in front of our chief was the worst part.

I can tell you this much, the next time I'm feeling positive on a Monday, I'll be very, very suspicious!
