1)  What is one of the best things about Sioux Falls Public Schools?

The teachers! We have the most dedicated and talented teachers.

2)  What is the most pressing matter that should be addressed in the school system?

Teacher pay and teacher retention

3)  What is your position on school year start times?

I was elected to do what is best for all students regarding education. I feel like the calendar needs to stay the same of maybe pushed a little bit later if all the pieces fit together, however that is what the calendar committee is charged with. I truly want what is best for the students.

4) What is your favorite childhood school memory?

Helping my mom (2^nd grade teacher) do bulletin boards and grading quizes after school

5) For a student who is struggling with that one class, what advice or encouragement would you give?

Hang in there! Speak with your counselor and see what your options are or possibly find a student/friend that may be better in that one class.

 

Bio

Todd Thoelke, Real Estate Broker at Hegg Realtors. Both parents were lifelong teachers, my wife works for the district, I have 2 daughters who have enjoyed their school careers at the SF public schools. My oldest daughter Paige is now a freshman at USD and my youngest is a sophomore at Lincoln. I am a very active volunteer in the community, past PTA president of All City Elementary, currently VP at the Lincoln High PTA. The committees I serve on for the school board are Policy, insurance, Sports Authority, I am the SF school board representative for the Associated School Boards of South Dakota and sit on the SD board of education parent advisory committee
