President Truman Tells America That The War In Europe Is Over

I can only imagine how America felt when they watched the President, Harry Truman, announce that the war in Europe was over.

It was 1945, so I assume most of them either heard over the radio or read about it in the newspaper.  But however they heard these words....celebration!

And relief.  How many Mom's and Dad's cried tears of joy when they heard?  And how many more wept because their child had given the ultimate sacrifice before these glorious words were spoken.

In a matter of month's Japan would surrender.  World War II would be over.
