I was texting back and forth with my son Logan today. Told him I wanted to discuss car insurance with him on the phone later this evening. He said, that won't be a problem. I plan on winning the lottery tonight.

I think Logan is like a lot of people. The Powerball has people all over America wondering what they would do if they won. It's fun to dream. But where you live might be something to consider if you win.  According to MarketWatch.com:

There are 10 states (plus Puerto Rico) that don’t levy a state tax on lottery winnings: California, Delaware, Florida, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming, according to the website USAMega.com. But if you live in New York, be prepared for the biggest initial tax bite — that $500 million will shrink to $202,510,800. The amount will be even smaller if you live in New York City and Yonkers, which withhold amounts based on their own local taxes.

Good luck to you if you bought a ticket or two for tonight's drawing. And if there isn't a winner tonight, we'll all be talking about this again. Next Week.
