The Distracted Driving Campaign in Sioux Falls is getting results!

"We have conducted a total of four city wide patrols," Police Sgt. Randy Brink explained. "During May and June, the saturation patrols focused on the educational side where we issued warnings for the suspected violations that were observed.

"In July we moved into issuing citations for the violations that we stopped folks for. The most recent saturation patrol was last Thursday. During that saturation patrol we made a total of 39 traffic stops as well as issuing a total of 22 citations for the prohibited use of electronic messaging, texting emails while in traffic."

Brink says a citation will cost you $95. Another saturation patrol will take place in Sioux Falls next month.
