Police Investigating Attack on Woman in Martin

MARTIN, S.D. (AP) — Police in Martin say they're investigating the attempted rape and attempted murder of a 24-year-old woman near the southwestern South Dakota town.

Authorities tell the Rapid City Journal that the woman called 911 early Wednesday from a closed bar on the outskirts of the community, and officers interrupted the alleged attack in progress.

The woman was taken to a Rapid City hospital and an 18-year-old male was taken into custody. Authorities are continuing to investigate.
