A traffic stop in downtown Sioux Falls on Friday morning resulted in a pursuit and two drug related arrests.

"During the course of the stop," Police Spokesman Sam Clemens told us, "the officer noticed an envelope in the glove box that had a small baggy with meth residue and a straw when he was given the envelope. Before the officer could do anything, the car suddenly took off."

Clemens says the vehicle grazed the officer.

"That's when the pursuit took place. The suspect crashed his car in downtown and tried to run away. The officers were able to catch him. They found a number of drugs, including marijuana, meth and different quantities as well. There were scales and baggies. That led the officers to think there was some distribution going on with the meth."

Clemens says the driver and passenger face many drug charges, including distribution of a controlled substance.
