He was the top playboy in the world, the man who started Playboy Magazine. Hugh Hefner passed away on Wednesday (9/27) at the age of 91.

Hefner died at his home in Los Angeles, California of natural causes. He was a native of Chicago, Illinois.

Hefner started Playboy Magazine in 1953. To get it going, he hocked his furniture to get a bank loan of $600, and raised $8,000 from 45 investors.

The list of investors included $1,000 from his own mother. She put up the money, not because she believed in his venture, but she believed in her son.

The very first issue sold over 50,000 copies.

Hugh Hefner was a WWII veteran. He was worth $43 million.

Hefner was married two times, having two daughters with his first wife and two sons with the second marriage. Hefner's parents were from Nebraska.
