Pennington County Commission Chairman Takes Smaller Pay Hike
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The chairman of the Pennington County Commission says he is accepting only a fraction of the 20 percent pay raise commissioners voted for themselves last month.
Chairman Lyndell Petersen said at the time that he thought he was voting for a much more modest pay increase.
He is taking only a $50 per month pay raise, rather than $250.
Peterson will make $1,300 a month as a commissioner. Those accepting the full raise will make $1,500.
Commissioner George Ferebee was the lone commissioner to vote against the pay raise. He says he will donate the additional money to charity.
