BOX ELDER, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota authorities have identified a pedestrian killed last week east of Rapid City in Box Elder.

The Highway Patrol says 38-year-old Harley Pyle, of Fergus Falls, Minn., was wearing dark clothing before dawn on Dec. 20 when he was hit.

It happened on a stretch of road that doesn't have street lights.

The HP says there's nothing to indicate the driver of the pickup, 52-year-old Michael Albright, of Box Elder, was at fault.

Investigators say Pyle was a transient who had been staying in the Box Elder area for some time.
