Thousands of dollars of items were ripped off from a home in the southern part of Sioux Falls.

"There was some forced entry," according to Police Spokesman Sam Clemens.

"The owner saw this and noted somebody had been through the house. He then called police. We found out there was jewelry, cash and some high end purses that were taken. The total loss is over $100,000."

Clemens says an investigation is underway.

"A lot of people have home surveillance systems. We might get lucky and have some of that caught on camera. Otherwise, there might be witnesses or people trying to get rid of the stolen merchandise. Detectives have their work cut out for them. That's one of the things they do well tracking down these suspects."
