Significant upgrade describes West 41st Street from Sertoma Avenue to Ellis Road as the new four-lane passageway opened on Wednesday.

Numerous businesses had to endure a long slog with limited access for over 6 months, but the odyssey concluded with the city of Sioux Falls hosted an opening ceremony which came a few weeks ahead of schedule.

Now that the road is open, additional lanes to accommodate traffic is the obvious first impression.  There is also a center median dividing the highway.  Street lights sprout from the median as opposed to the traditional lighting from the side of the street.

The speed limit is higher than before with 40 now as the maximum speed, but be advised new traffic signals at Grinnell Avenue and Ellis Road will regulate the traffic.  Plus there is a bike path on the outside edge to give the pedal pushers some space.

Completing this one mile path also allows the Sioux Falls Regional Landfill to be accessible from 41st Street again instead of routing traffic to 12th Street.
